FROM HIVE TO JAR · THE HARVEST

A careful harvest starts with the colony and ends with honey bottled in small batches. Our decisions follow the bees’ needs and the season.

STEP 01

Manage the colony

Strong honey crops begin with healthy queens, adequate nutrition, mite management, and enough room to grow.

STEP 02

Wait for ripe honey

We look for properly ripened, substantially capped comb before harvesting.

STEP 03

Harvest the supers

We leave the colony the resources it needs for current conditions and the season ahead.

STEP 04

Uncap and extract

We remove the wax cappings and spin the frames so the honey releases from the comb.

STEP 05

Strain and settle

After straining, the honey settles so air bubbles and fine wax can rise before bottling.

STEP 06

Bottle and share

We bottle in small batches; seasonal color and flavor reflect the nectar sources available to the bees.

Our process overview describes uncapping, centrifugal extraction, straining, settling, and bottling. Product-specific details such as pasteurization, pollen content, or lab testing are not claimed here; ask us about a particular batch through the Contact page or browse the Honey FAQ.

Rooted in Tonganoxie, Kansas

Our farm is based in Tonganoxie. The nectar available to the bees changes with local blooms and the season, so we do not describe every harvest as a single-flower honey.

Bee-first harvest decisions

We consider colony strength and seasonal needs before harvesting, and leave colonies the resources they need. Read about our beekeeping methods →
